On February 3, 2007 Saint Boniface held its first Youth Mass. The youth of the Parish were in charge of the song selections and planned the Mass. They took the various rolls of Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, collecting the offerings, bringing up the gifts, and greeting parishioners. After Mass, the youth and their families were invited downstairs for pizza and other goodies, and the exciting first meeting of the Saint Boniface Youth Group.
The Youth Group has been meeting on a regular schedule and attending our monthly Youth Mass, always followed by a get-together with snacks.
Our Youth Group Members attended the CYO-TAF Youth Conference this past December (pictures below), participated in public service and Parish projects, and went on a few fun "field trips". The group hosted one of the Sunday Brunches in the Sunday Speaker Series.(There was some buzzing in the room that their food was the best of the series!)
Some of our Youth are part of the Parish Music Ministry and play and sing at the Youth Masses and have begun to perform at some of the regular Saturday 5:00 and Sunday Morning Masses. They have come a long way in a short time.
The St. Boniface Youth Program targets 6th to 12th graders in the Parish, because we feel that, as teens grow older, fewer opportunities present themselves to be with other Christians in an environment where it's "cool" to talk about God. This kind of environment is exactly what we are aiming to create with the Youth Group.
Joining the Youth Group brings a great way for our Youth to be with other Catholic young people where they can openly discuss their faith and how it effects their lives and of course, to meet and make new friends.
Participation in any of our projects credits young people with Service Hours. These Service Hours may be applied to Confirmation, Scouting, School or other requirement.
